Liberator & Revolution are Black Suri Champions

Two of Saber’s black offspring traveled to the TxOLAN Alpaca Show and did very well this last weekend. We are proud of the accomplishments of our black breeding program and pleased about the results.

Stone Brook’s Liberator by Saber took 1st in his Yearling Black Class and then went on to win the title of Black Male Color Champion at the show in Fort Worth, Texas. Liberator is a solid male who will be begin settling females this year after the show season is completed.

Stone Brook Pucara Revolution is also black and she is the daughter of Saber as well. Revolution started her show career at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show. She is only 7 months old and won her Juvenile class before competing in the Championship Cass. She was awarded Black Reserve Color Champion and we are proud of the results from her first showing.

If you would like more information about Saber, the sire of Liberator and Revolution please contact us Josh at 231.409.2292. Saber was awarded the Dark Reserve Herdsire of the Year Award last year at the 2010 Futurity.

Selling Alpacas via Weekly Auctions

We are offering our clients a new and exciting way to purchase females each and every week via Openherd’s online auction. This allows us the opportunity to highlight particular alpacas that we think can greatly help breeders across the country diversify their herd and infuse some of the great genetics that has allowed Stone Brook Farms to rise to the top of the suri market over the years. Through careful consideration of what breeders are looking for in today’s market we have selected females that can be purchased at reasonable prices. We understand that breeders are looking for high quality females that bring diversity into their herd that they can continue to build a solid foundation of females through. We are excited to be able to offer some of the best colored breeding stock in America to our clients throughout the United States.

We invite you to contact us with any questions you may have about these auction alpacas or any of the animals we have listed for sale. Please contact us here at Stone Brook Farms at 231-409-2292.

Alpacas Are…Worth Considering in Mother Earth News

We received our February/March Mother Earth News magazine today in the mail. As I was working through the articles about kitchen gardens and thinking about how wonderful my alpaca fertilized garden did last year I came across AOBA’s page bringing attention to alpacas being a “green” machine on page 33. It was nice to see, and I can honestly say that the “end” product, manure, is fantastic for gardening. We had wonderful success this last year when we tilled up an area where we had been spreading alpaca beans and grew a garden. Alpacas certainly are well worth considering when you are looking for a great fertilizing machine that is also easy on the land.

If you are interested in growing your own fleece producing fertilizer, give us a call at 231-409-2292 (Josh) or 231-409-4878 (Tonya). We would be happy to assist you!

Stone Brook Farms' Re. Breeder of the Year Trophy

We are proud to be awarded the prestigious honor of being named the 2010 Suri Reserve Breeder of the Year. It is a great honor to be recognized for our devotion and dedication over the years. We have worked hard to achieve the success in the breeding barn, and in the show ring, that so many breeders desires. We are proud of our studs and proud to be able to say that at the 2010 Futurity Show and Sale we were wholly represented by progeny from the studs in our breeding barn. We have shown that a medium size farm, with just four breeding studs at the time, is able to achieve such lofty goals. In fact, at the 2009 Futurity Show our stud, Semejanzo, was the only herdsire to have two color champion winning offspring.

We are honored and humbled by this award and hope to inspire other small and medium size breeders to continue to strive for excellence. We have always believed that it is better to obtain quality then quantity.

Saber: Awarded Re. Herdsire of the Year

2010 Re. Suri Herdsire of the Year

The Re. Herdsire of the Year trophy won by Saber

Saber has been awarded the 2010 Re. Herdsire of the Year after his offspring shone brightly as they competed against the top suri alpacas in America. The 2010 Futurity Show and Sale was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in April of 2010 and drew the top breeders from around the country to compete for the highly coveted Color Championship trophies and titles. Saber is a solid medium brown stud with excellent build. His silky locks maintain great integrity with very little shedding and cross webbing. He continues to pass on these highly desirable traits to his progeny.
